The last episode was the first time I noticed a touch of an accent peering through the American accent. I hadn't known she was one of the many Australians who play Americans on tv, like my favorite LaPaglia.

But princess_amina1-1, you could tell she was foreign but could you specifically tell she was Australian? As an Australian, I won't necessarily notice an imperfect Am111cerican accent as well as you can, but the moment I hear something specifically Australian leaking through, I'll know.
In this case, I could pin it down to one word"own".
If you're interested, by the way, my definition of a typical modern Australian accent sure isn't The Crocodile Hunterit's Claire from "Lost". -

I only noticed her accent today. It was pretty obvious. Which is weird that I didn't notice it before. It was the scene which shes questioning her husband about the $40000 diamond ring. I live in australia so I wouldn't be able to pick up a dodgy american accent as much as an aussie twang.

Oddly enough, it was that scene - where she was angry at Matt over the ring - where I too first thought she might be Australian. Perhaps because she was raising her voice the accent bled through.
If it bleeds, we can kill it. -

Yea she had done a very good job before that. When emotions are raised, true accents shine through. I lived away from the south from 8 years, but anytime I get excited or angry, a little bit of that southern drawl comes back. It happens with anyone who has changed accents or dialects.

That's the exact episode I was just watching that made me wonder if she was an Aussie and prompted me to look it up.
Also, didn't realise she was in Mulholland Drive til now. She looks much younger in that. -

I had no idea she was Australian, but the moment I heard her speak I knew she wasn't American. Though in that episode where she gets mad at Parkman it got so bad that it kind of ruined her character for me. Any time she spoke after that I just tuned out.

ok this is about 5 years too late, but I just started watching Heroes on Nextflix and I agree, when she yells or gets mad she can't control her accent. I knew INSTANTLY that she was Australian. Really bad job of controlling her accent.
