How does this guy keep getting work?

He plays the same dopey character on everything he does - and he's not funny, or even good at it. I truly believe he's one of the main reasons shows like 'Invasion', 'Reaper' and that horrid Tuscon thing only lasted as long as they did. Surely there has GOT to be somebody in Hollywood that is better than this guy at playing the wacky, chubby, slob neighbor/friend/co-worker than this guy.

I dont really care if he plays the same type of character to be honest. Lo5b4ok at Samuel Jackson, he plays the same character in almost all his movies and he is awesome. To me all that matters is making the character believable but that is just me.

Take all the things you don't like about him and pretend you are one of the people (myself included) that like those things about him. That's how he keeps getting jobs.
He's taking the knife out of the Cheese!
Do you think he wants some cheese? -

because he's fat and has "wacky" "alternative" style but still has classic good looks, sort of like Zach Galifinakis (except Zach is hysterically funny). If Tyler were thinner he would just be another bland, boring actor and probably wouldn't get work, but he has a look that fits a certain character type so he gets cast in those parts a lot.

It's called typecasting.
I've only ever seen him in the new CBS show Mad Love, but his character in that show is quite funny. If you're telling me he always plays the same role, I'll have to try to catch some of his earlier work. -

The guy oozes charisma. He's both funny and likeable which is why shows that really shoudn't get greenlit are because he's in them.
When he gets the right show it'll be a huge hit and the powers that be know it which is why I expect they'll continue to plug him into s238how after show until they have their hit. -

I came here looking for the answer to the same question because I don't see the talent others must. Are we sure he's not a studio exec's son or something? Maybe he's just really driven when it comes to his a career and/or he auditions well. Some people are a lot better at getting jobs than doing them.

First show I've ever seen him in was Sons of Tuscan.. watched all the episodes on netflix streaming xbox360. started watching his other shows and find him pretty damn funny. not my favorite actor/comedian out there.. but he's good.. he deserves the work he gets. I'm in the middle of the Reaper series on netflix too.. love me some streaming!

He might play the same character but like other's said it's typecasting and you know what his shows actually benefit from it.
He was an asset to reaper.
I haven't got to sons of tuscon yet but he's the only reason im interested in it.
Tucker & Dale Vs Evil was awesome and he played the main in that.
Mad Love i actually think his and connies characters are the better half of the show. Biggs just stumbles around in it like he did in the american pie movies, and sarah chalke may as well still be elliot since she seems to have some of the same craziness to her character.
characters get type cast all the time, only got to look at someone well know like say jessica alba whos crowning achievement was Dark Angel(which tyler was in 2 times), and has since just fit into the cute/hot chick for every role since -

I stopped watching "Reaper" partly because of him, just a little too much of the hyper-character without a pause. I turned off "Mad Love" the one time I turned it on because of that, too!
The oft-compared Jack Black came at me the same way too at first, but then movies like "Be Kind Rewind" and "Nacho Libre" showed he could be both manic
and]/b] quiet and still enjoyable.
If Tyler's managed to bring his acting & humor to that different level then maybe I haven't given him a chance, any recommendations?
I see his in the new Planet of the Apes movie! (Please don't let him be the slacker lab assistant or something.)
