WAIT, I didn't even see that
"Teenage Dream" is nowhere CLOSE to being an iconic song
It's one of the most forgotten singles from that album
Here's to the mess we make.

Firework and Hot N Cold are, Teenage Dream is the most forgotten TD single, Roar is on the way to be iconic.
Unlike Gaga, rihanna's risks pay off.

Why are the Rihanna stans bringing up "Diamonds" as if that song is iconic in any way, shape, or form?
It being the best-selling digital song by a black female artist of all time makes it iconic since it literally made history. I'm not even gonna get into the fact that you think Gaga is even remotely a Beyonce. Gaga is Cyndi Lauper 2.0. Katy is untalented and useless but you can't deny that she's a pop icon at this point.
Just because I can't kiss back, doesn't mean you can't kiss that.

How is Katy Perry a pop icon? Because she hasn't flopped with an album yet? She released THREE, take a chill pill. There's someone called Cher who was a pop icon even though she kept flopping. It's the impact that counts, something Katy does NOT have. WTF is Katy's impact? That you should never use dancing sharks during any live performance? Yeeehaaa, how impactful!
Gaga is a bigger pop icon based on her peak alone. Making EDM a trend in the US, the meat dress and every artist having a name for their fanbase. That's impact. The crazy outfits and the fanbase name is something Katy did because Gaga did it first. That alone makes Gaga the bigger pop icon than freaking Katy Perry.

How is Cher not an icon? She paved the way, she started wearing crazy outfits before Madonna and she has inspired pop culture, she has classics, it's true her carreer was really inconsistent, it was full of ups and downs, but she managed to survive the years even with several flops, she had her biggest hit when she was in her 50s, she's the only musical act to have a number-one single on a Billboard chart in each of the last six decades, she was the first big musical act to use autotune on her songs and it became known as the Cher effect for some time, she's also 1 award away from EGOT status, she influenced Madonna, Celine, Britney, Xtina, Gaga.
Making EDM a trend in the US
How so? Madonna explored EDM music in the 90s with mega sucessful albums, Guetta an111cd Benassi were already around and had big hits before Gaga, JT did it in FutureSexLoveSounds, Britney explored it on Blackout and did the same on Circus and Femme Fatale, the latter was released 13 years on her carreer and was a sucess with 2 top 5 singles unlike some singers that fell after their sophomore albums.
Gaga is a bigger pop icon than Katy, but being bigger than Katy doesn't mean Katy isn't a pop icon too(a small one, but anyway).
The crazy outfits and the fanbase name
The fanbase name yes, but the crazy outfits no, Bowie did that, Cher did that, Madonna did that, Lil Kim did that, all before Gaga, stop acting like Gaga was the first one to do it.

Turn it up hot, lovin' you is free"

I think Kermit ruined the Rainbow Connection.
