I am watching "The Caesars" a Granada TV series from 1968 made in black and white.
When I found it in the shop, I was torn between buying this, and buying a double bill DVD of two versions of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. One of them had Ingrid Begman in it. However, Freddie Jones was in "The Caesars" which decided the matter.
Freddie Jones is playing the future Emperor Claudius.
Now I do very much like Derek Jacobi's portrayal of the stuttering limping Claudius. But Freddie Jones gave a superior performance. His Claudius is one shrewd sharp thinker. I am blown away by this performance.
He's not the Messiah, he's a very naughty boy!
