I'm currently 27 years old. I used to watch R & M's Laugh-In when I was younger, obviously re-runs. The only thing I ever remember when I think of that show was the German Soldier's "Ver-r-r-ry eenteresting!" That was just the funniest thing, and I still get 16d0a chuckle out of it today, especially if I picture Arte with his hands on his mouth, his glasses, and him peering from bushesclassic!
Someday when I own a TV and DVD/VHS player, I'll get to know Arte's work better. I'm worried he may not be around by the time I do this, but I can't exactly afford too many conveniences these days
Thank you Arte for being the earliest, funniest memory for such a young kid like myself! -

I'm here, but more to the point: Where's Arte? The IMDb bio says he began chemotherapy in October 1997 for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. He hasn't made a film or TV appearance in years. I hope he's OK, though at 79, I can understand why he'd want to retire.

I remember when Rowan & Martin's Laugh In originally aired back in the late '60s. My favorite Arte Johnson character on the show was the little old man who was always flirting with Gladys. Now that was funny!
