Quite honestly, Sir David Jason is nothing less than a LEGEND! and in my humble opinion the very best actor to ever emerge from Britain. With the exception of his most recent production-project
"The Royal Bodyguard" which was basically an insult to his talent, every single other performance I have seen him give has been nothing short of perfection!
Obviously millions of Brits know him best as Derek "Del Boy" Trotter in the best sitcom ever to hit the small screen "ONLY FOOLS AND HORSES" and perhaps just as much as, Detective Inspector William "Jack" Frost in "A TOUCH OF FROST" both shows of which are just the pinacle of this Genius's career. But also perhaps in my opinion, his performance as Colonel Frank Beck in the Masterpiece Theatre Production of "ALL THE KINGS MEN" opposite the equally perfect DAME MAGGIE SMITH, marks his very best performance. I was very impressed with the recent ITV one-off drama "COME RAIN, COME SHINE" opposite Alison Steadman as well.
I also personally believe that he is along with another LEGEND of the British Entertainment realm,
SIR ELTON JOHN, One of only two people to truly deserve their knighthood, I don't really care much, about the whole debate of celebrities getting knighthoods on-top of their big-wages and popularity but some people do truly deserve that recognition for not just being good at what they do, but for also benefiting other peoples lives along the way.
Sir David's acting talent has never ceased to amaze me, the ability to switch from being hilarious to being emotionally-dramatic in a single scene or just conveying the human emotions in characters that vary from coppers to bank robbers, street-dealers to army-officer. He handles them with such grace and sincerity that it sometimes strikes me to be a shame, he hasn't done films and been more of a international British export like Michael Caine or his brilliant but not so equally talented peer Jim Broadbent.
