Elon Musk and his DOGE squad have created a lot of headlines — and not all of them have been overly positive — since Donald Trump took office.
Trump gave Musk the freedom to dig into government files, and he has claimed to find multiple instances of fraud, although he has thus far failed to back that up very often with tangible proof.
And there have been some big fumbles, too. For instance, DOGE reporetedly put hundreds of federal workers on the chopping block who were in charge of the nation’s nuclear weapons program.
Musk is reportedly not polling well through it all.
While appearing on “Erin Burnett OutFront” recently, CNN data guru Harry Enten said that Musk’s net favorability rating has dropped to -13 points. That is down from -3 points before the election and way down from when he was +29 points back before the 2016 election.
Also, per Newsweek, 60 percent of folks responding to a Wall Street Journal poll “thought that it was a bad idea for a president to rely on billionaires for policy advice.”
Trump pays attention to polls, and that might not be good for Musk.
The betting markets are also apparently paying attention, and what they have to say about it all doesn’t appear to be good for Musk either.
Polymarket currently gives Musk a 71% chance of being out as the head of DOGE before July.
If you can’t say something nice, say something clever but devastating.
