Yep - too many young unexpected deaths and January is just half over. Unexpected for the public anyway - apparently Bowie had cancer for a long time and was able to keep it to himself. It would be really hard to put together a death pool at this point.

I think in any given year, a lot of celebrities are bound to pass away, but the last few years have seemed harder maybe just because social media makes us m1c84ore aware when it happens? Before FB I was blissfully ignorant when a great actor died. Perhaps this is yet another reason to avoid Facebook for me :(.
But OTOH the last time my new year started out on a negative note, the rest of the year was positive. So hopefully, 2016 follows suit with that.
Let's revisit this thread at the end of the year and compare notes.
