I remember reading awhile back that she was against gay marriage, or I should say that she is for the sanctity of traditional marriage (which I see no difference in whatsoever). Does anyone know anything about that?

See, when I hear the "sancity of traditional marriage", I just think she doesn't believe in having affairs. That people should be monogamous and not get divorced quickly.
I mean you could be right since the word traditional is in there. That's just not the impression I got.

I am opposed to gay marriage. A legally binding union is one thing but marriage should be something unique between a man and a woman. Gay people want a union of some sort thats finebut dont call it marriage. Thats what I thinkso if she is opposed to gay marriage thats grandmore people like that and it will be great.

How people think about their own marriage should have nothing to do with you.

What people think of my opinion should have nothing to do with thembut such is life. Thats the hypocrisy of people nowadaysthat they would come out with statements like that. Why gay people are so desperate to be assimiliated into society in exactly the same way is beyond me. Makes one wonder why they even bother to make it an issue. As far as I am concerned two chaps in wedding photos looks comicala sad attempt at acceptance as opposed to finding an individual approach to publicly expressing their love for one another. Marriage is a special union between genders and two blokes or women doing it cheapens that. They should create their own culture instead of taking away something that is unique between man and woman.

Again frontman sexuality is not a race. Gay people can marry just as easily as I can. They just cant marry the same gender. Their rights in that matter are not being denied. In your example a black man could not marry a white woman but a white man can. In mine a gay person can marry the same people I can marry if they chose to. That is not bigotry because gay people are not getting treated less than straight people. They simply live a lifestyle that means they do not feel inclined to marry someone of the opposing gender. Thats their choice. Nobody is telling them they cant marry. Just that they can only marry the opposing gender just like everyone else.

I cannot marry somebody of the same gender the same as a gay person. With black people the laws were created specifically to oppress them. Gay people are not being oppressed. That gender seperation in marriage was never about excluding gay people unlike the laws that were about excluding black people in some countries. Gay people can exercise the same rights I can so it is not the same as race. I fully expect words like bigotry and homophobia to be thrown at me in this topic on a regular basis. This is how stupid shortsighted people get their kicks after all. I just hope the fallout lands on their doorstep and not mine.

What you are talking about is called equal application theory. Try this website if you want to get a better example of your type of argument.
There is also the part about the fundamental freedom to marry.
To sum up my argument with a cutesy slogan, civil unions are dandy, but any alternativie to marriage is not marriage. Anything less, is less than equal.

People have a fundamental freedom to marry. Everyone. Just not the same gender.
How in hell is not being able to marry whom you want considered a freedom?

Dont worry marcos_ho, its only your own limitations that saw me as stupid. They can marry who they want as long as its the opposite gender. In other words they have the exact same freedom hetrosexuals do. Now if we were talking civil unions that would be a different matter. Afterall everyone is entitled to have their relationship recognised by their peers and by law.

So do you want to marry a 9 year old? Do you want to marry a sheep? The issue is simply one of defining what a word means, you are trying to make it an issue of freedom. You have the freedom to join into whatever contractural relationship you want. For that matter, a civil union is not even required. A gay couple can provide powers of attorneys and make contract agreements with each other that would give them the same rights, priveleges, and responsibilities that a married couple has. Just don't call it a marriage. That would be no different than straight people saying that they don't want their marriage called a marriage, they want to be called homosexuals. That's fine that they want to be called homosexual, but that doesn't make them homosexual. This is a favorite tactic of the left, if you do not like the facts, and you can't change the facts, then just change the meaning of the words. Remember, "that depends on what the meaning of the word IS is".
Also, just because a person is anti-gay marriage doesn't mean they hate homosexuals. I believe it is a sin. I also believe that adultery, pre-marital sex, losing your temper, gluttony, and greed are sins. I sometimes commit them, I know plenty of people who commit them, that doesn't mean that I hate them. I have no position on how a person lives their life. I can disapprove or approve, but at the end of the day it is their life and the freedom of choice how to live it.
                                Maggie,
If you are truly a person who believes in the sanctity of "traditional MARRIAGE", you have risen to the top of my favorite actress list. It shows a depth of character rarely seen in Hollywood.

Please try to find new arguments. This is the same lame excuse the right has been using all along. freedom = consent. Neither a child or a goat can consent.

Another non argument on your part. I have obviously used exaggeration to point out the fallacy of your argument. Taken to a logical conclusion your argument leads to the child and goat argument. If you want to change the definition and purpose of marriage to meet your goals, why are you so willing to draw the line in front of the pedophile or the bestiality practicer. I'm not equating a homosexual with those people. I am equating the argument.
just because a person is anti-gay marriage doesn't mean they hate homosexuals
"Keep telling yourself that. That'll make you feel better. And not giving a job to a black guy doesn't mean you're a racist. It means you're protecting him from the hardship of labor."
I don't have to "keep telling myself anything". Its just common sense. Once again you try to slander instead of approach the argument from the front. I've never considered a person's color in an employment issue. I actually find your statement, even made in jest or rhetoric, somewhat offensive. In business the only color I care about is green. Will you make me money, then you are hired.
Just don't call it a marriage
I agree with that. I don't care for the label. It's stupid to say "I wanna get married too!" It's our envy. All I care about is people having the same rights.
                                    Hooray! We agree
I also believe that adultery, pre-marital sex, losing your temper, gluttony, and greed are sins.
"The difference being that adulterers have the right to get married Hail the sanctity of marriage. And if you really believe in the Bible, you should be stoning every adulterer you know. Either you believe in something or you don't. Don't be picky."
An adulterer cannot get married unless they commit bigamy. The other sins mentioned have no bearing in a disussion concerning marriage, gay or otherwise. If you knew more about the Bible, you would know that in the New Testament, Christ instructed,"he who is without sin cast the first stone" in a situation directly created by an instance of adultery.
Incidentally there is nothing in my post that says I believe the Bible, or that I am a Christian. Considering that the vast majority of Christians are much more tolerant of homosexuality than the most common religion on earth, Islam; and the other common religion which share the same roots, Judaism, is also less tolerant, I accept your comment as a positive statement that I am living my life in a way that others would convict me of being a Christian.

What part of "consent" don't you get? It doesn't matter whether I want t111co marry a 9-year old or a goat. As long as neither is able to consent, it's a moot point. And, by the way, I highly doubt any pedophile would like to marry a kid. They want to get off, not create a family. Same thing goes for bestiality practitioners (sic).
In business the only color I care about is green. Will you make me money, then you are hired.
Gay weddings are a 1 bln + booming enterprise. If you are all about the money, then why not let them get married? The government could make a ton of money from taxes
"The difference being that adulterers have the right to get married Hail the sanctity of marriage. And if you really believe in the Bible, you should be stoning every adulterer you know. Either you believe in something or you don't. Don't be picky."

I don't understand the logic. What I'm saying is that adultery is the highest form of disrespect to the "sanctity" of marriage. Then, how come these people can get married? I say, once you get caught, your wife/husband divorces you and you have no longer have the right to get married.
If you knew more about the Bible
Just because I don't agree with you doesn't mean I don't know the Bible. I have read my fair share of it.
you would know that in the New Testament
Picky, are we? Last time I checked, a Christian HAS to read and accept both Testaments. When someone criticizes the Bible, people just keep citing the New, more tolerant, Testament.
Incidentally there is nothing in my post that says I believe the Bible, or that I am a Christian.
                                      Says you.
Considering that the vast majority of Christians are much more tolerant of homosexuality than the most common religion on earth, Islam
Maybe, instead of comparing Christians to Muslims, you should compare them to atheists, who are 100x more tolerant. But that comparison doesn't fit your need for self-indulgence, does it?
I accept your comment as a positive statement that I am living my life in a way that others would convict me of being a Christian.
You wish. It is obvious that you are a Christian due to a simple fact: you are obsessed with gay marriage. Other religions don't care because it is a non-issue in their countries. By the way, Jewish people are far more liberal than Christians. Proof:

While Americans fight about gay marriage, Israel allows same-sex adoption.

You sound about as intelligent as a cactus, my friend. I do not agree with what a homosexual believes in and chooses to do, but that doesn't make me hate them or disrespect them in anyway. It's a different point of a view, a different opinion. I have gay friends and family members, Ib68 don't push them away or discriminate I just don't agree with their opinion. Is that a crime? It's called an opinion.
If you really understood the bible, you'd understand where people are coming fromgranted, there are a lot of so called Christian's out there who are preaching the word one minute then screaming that someone is going to hell because they've made a mistake. Being a Christian means you love people, no matter who they are or what they do. Forgiveness plays a pretty big part if you're serious about your faith. You can't pick and choose who you love, whether you agree with them or not.
Call me what you like, dismiss me and call me a bigoted, blindsided idiot if you wantI wouldn't have anything against you or anyone else who did. I actually just came onto Maggie's page to make a post about how she looks so much like Carrie Fisher and stumbled onto this thread(:
