Her porch scene. Yeah, the guy was an ass, and he was all talk. And she shut him up - but in such a mean way. Of course he wasn't going to do anything. That's how guys wind up divorced. Or in jail. Plus, he2000 knew SHE was all talk. She would have bolted the minute he got off that chair. Whatever happened next, he knew it would be the end of their little flirtation. He had no choice but to sit there and take it. Making a move would have been worse for him than sitting still for the humiliation not that he didn't deserve it!
(I assume they'd known each other for years. She likely thought his flirting was fun, when she was younger - and he likely less brazen. But now she's 16, understands the game more, and is tired of his leering and comments) -
