It could take awhile, before there is will be a new Bond-movie. If they cast a new actor for James Bond, Chiwetel would be an interesting choice.

Have to agree. Bond is half Scots and half Swiss. Why does this argument always come up? Why can't folks come up with new characters and new stories?

I think Ejiofor would make a fantastic Bond. There's no reason why Bond couldn't be black. Unlike characters like John Shaft, Bond's race has never been significant in the plot, or thematically important.

I have never imagined Bond being black, never once did it occur to me. But the thought of Ejiofor as Bond could totally work. He's a supremely cool and talented actor. He could pull off the charm while still carrying an undercurrent of LETHAL! lol.
I have to be completely honest though a Black Bond maybe not quite yet. We only just got a Blonde Bond in 2006baby steps people, baby steps.

Exactly - Bonds race other maybe than being english has never been a integral to plot or theme. Even then Im sure he was played by an American at one point. His appeal lays with his charm and swagger. I think Bond could be Black as long as those traits are clearly intact.

Bond wasn't ethnically English. He was Scottish on his father's side, Swiss on his mother's.

And that would be as popular with BOND fans as Will Smith was with the WILD WILD WEST fans. NOT AT ALL!!!!!! Worst casting faux pas that can be made, is casting outside of a characters accepted race. You will never see a white Martin Luther King Jr., Muhammad Ali, or Malcolm X, so why do a BLACK Bond, Jim West, or James T. Kirk? If that last mistake is ever made, I guarantee an America torn apart by race-riots. And I'll be up front, leading the charge to burn down PARAMOUNT, and string-up their executives.

James Bond is not a biopic of actual living persons especially one where being black IS integral to plot. Also Martin Luther, Malcom X and Ali were not secrete agents working for British intelligence.

I went over to Idris Elba's board and they were tossing this idea around quite a bit over there as well. I'm clearly bias though - my vote is definitely for Chiwetel.
I love Idris' work though I just don't quite see him as Bond. Hmmm

What? That doesn't make sense. The reason why no white man can ever play Martin Luther King Jr., Muhammed Ali and Malcolm X is because these men are NOT fictional characters. Unlike James Bond, Jim West and James T. Kirk, who ARE fictional characters. Try again.
