I kinda understand why you may think that but I really don't think that's how they meant to portray him. He actually would sometimes talk about girls he was dating, had dated in the past and if I recall correctly him and Andy had double dated. Interestingly enough, he did play a gay-bashing-closet-homo on Archie Bunkers Place one time!
