Of course it looks like about suffocation.
Reminds me a (maybe sexual) predator.
Actually David use that phrase very often to explain "Still of the night" music video.
A strangler?
strangled the driver lady during driving so the car crashed?
serial killer?
Actually I don't hate that S and M sense.

I get the "predator" sense about it along with how the girl preferred being suffocated by the pearl necklace. Also, how David's character was not enough for her, that she had others whom she devoured - thus the trouble coming his way.
Not terribly positive, but provocative, which was pro16d0bably the whole idea.
