Hi,
Being both a Tom Courtenay fan and a student of WW1 I think "King and Country" is just about the perfect film. Dirk Bogarde is no slouch in it either, nor the supporting cast. You won't be disappointed i'm sure.

Criterion rereleased Billy Liar on DVD worldwide. I know this on account of the fact that we rent it at the video store where I work (in the states). It has commentary by Tom, John Schlesinger, and Julie Christie that was made in 2000-01,or so.

I agree. I just saw The Dresser and it blew me away. What great acting from both the leads. Why is it England is so far ahead of the US in Drama or Comedy?

He was
AMAZING
as Pasha Antipov in "Doctor Zhivago"! How in the hell didn't he win an Oscar for that part is beyond my understanding. I mean he deserved it for the scene on the train with Omar Sharif alone IMO. It might not be his best part, but his in "Zhivago" was one of my favorite characters in any movie ever (and I didn't like Pasha much in the novel, so that's saying something)!
