I don't wish to be rude. But he made his reputation with Billy Liar and then with Pasha in
Dr Zhivago
.
Both those characters were small, untrustworthy, moral/intellectual cowards.
Yet, momentum and nostalgia has seen his career limp on for the next half-century.
He has no vocal strength. And I'm not convinced he has ANY strength in portraying characters who are not small, limp schlemiels.
