Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Sam Cooke

    Sweetthangrenee — 21 years ago(March 26, 2005 11:37 AM)

I just discovered Sam. Everyone talks about Marvin but i never hear much about Sam. Dont get me wrong, Marvin was the man but Sam is the Prince of Motown.
Anyone know any good sites or reliable information on Sam. Im really interested to know about him and his life. I read his mini biography on here and i just cant believe what i read about his last night on earth; i guess i dont want to believe that about Sam.

How is Sam the prince of motown if he never was in motown? i believe Sam cooke was the father of soul and Marvin was the prince.

well there's been a lot of speculation & scrutiny as to what really happened (the details not presented in court) & whether or not the investigation was conducted as it should have been..

A really good website about the events on his last night alive, in my opinion is http://members.tripod.com/clarkkauffman/id32.htm. It gives a lot of information and insight in to what happened that night. Sadly, though, we'll never really know the truth. I hope this helps.

bonitabonitabonita-hey bonita, glad to meet cha.
              (sorry I couldn't resist)
I know this may sound bad, but if there was a bio of Sam I hope it doesn't
include the tragedy of the mysteriousness surrounding his death. To this day, he envokes such passion, inspiration, and warmth with in his music.and his voice. I think that's how he'd be best remembered, though I too am curious to know the details.
Everytime I hear one of his songs it reminds of being a chil5b4d & singing w/Sam on KRTH while sitting in traffic on the 405.
Its something I still practice once in a while ;D
