On Katie's birth certificate is the last name Cassidy.
Katie went by her step-father's name growing up.
David did not play a big part in her life growing up.
She considers her step-father her real father.
Katie says she thinks of David as a friend.

David has been quoted as saying a few years back that he doesn't want anything to do with her. It's sad and hopefully, it's better now.

After years of not having a relationship with Katie, David decided to exploit their relationship for a short lived sitcom on ABC Family , last year, called "Ruby and the Rocket".
David then got him and Katie an article in PEOPLE magazine.
Kind of bizarre interview.
She tells David how she has to Kiss a girl for a part and about the girls lined up for the part.
David responds with, "did you kiss them all?".
Anyway, Katie got roles on her own with no help from David.
Good for her!
