I read that she is Catholic and is a Republican. Not that I am against it, but I was wondering if anyone knows her views on Homosexuality?
I know it's weird (and I probably just being nervous), but I love her as an actress, and I am terribly afraid that she would not like me as a person if I ever got a chance to meet her. Not that I am a huge immoral person or anythingbut it just worries me, cause I am a huge fan of her work!

Just came upon your message and I want you to know that the information given in regard to Pat is a little misleadingit comes from Wikipedia, I believe, and while, yes, she is a registered republican, she votes for whomever she feels is the best person for the office, disregarding political affiliation, so, no, she DIDN'T vote for Bush! She is, also, Catholic, but has never chosen roles based on thisthe Wikipedia article states that"her religious views inform her choice of what roles to accept, and in which productions to appear." This is completely untrue and I have no idea where it came from and I should know as I'm her daughter!
As for your fear of her "not liking you", my mother, never judges ANYONE based on their ethnic background, religious views or sexual orientationshe raised us to judge people on the content of their characterso, never fear, unless you're a total freak, she'd probably love you! And to put your mind further at ease, she has a lot of gay friends, as do her children!
Hope I've helped. -

Awe! Thank you for your kind message! I really felt horrible asking such a thing, but I didn't know what else to do because I HAD to get this question answered. It was a littleblechin the back of my mind that I just had to settle.
BTW, I'm Catholic as well, though I might not technically be allowed as I have some unorthodox beliefs.
Sorry if I seemed silly, but if it means anyhting, to have someone talk to me about it really made me feel better! ^^ Thanks so very much for responding and making me smile lol. I really really appreciate it ^^
PS: Now that you mention it, last night I was watching a documentary on "The Little Mermaid" and she was talking very lovingly about the late Howard Ashmanwho was a good friend of John Waters, and John Waters is a bitermyealol.
(OH! And she's your mother? Oh waitduh! You are her daughter Tara! I'm an idiot rolls eyes That is sooo cool!)

Funny thing, today. I watch "What's My Line?" every night at midnight on GSN, then I IMDB the folks afterwards. Right now it's 1953 and Red Buttons made his first mystery guest appearance. I am already aware of his history (I'm 51) but not that he was only a TV person at that time, nor that he had a hand in intro'ing Pat Carroll to the world. I have loved Pat for many years (since childhood) in everything she's done. ("Laugh In", I recall being one project.) Since her daughter is reading these posts, just thought I'd give a big HOWDY to her and her mom and wish them both the best, with my love!!!

Yep, since Ms. Carroll's daughter seems to read the posts let me just say I hope she reads this one today where I send HAPPY BIRTHDAY! greetings and love to her dear mother. I have loved Pat for years. She always enlivened every show she appeared in. Two favorite memories of her: 1. The recording of Gertrude Stein (Grammy well deserved, Ms. Carroll!) 2. An episode of MAKE ROOM FOR DADDY where the gang was playing charades and decided to have a little fun with Bunny. Her clue was "Tramp, Tramp, Tramp" and everyone knew it and acted dumb when Bunny tried to pantomime the clue. Of course since all the words were "tramp" when someone would call out "Second word!", etc. what could she do? I can still her pretending to lug her belongings over her shoulder, as a tramp would and going nuts when no one could get what she was doing. I haven't seen that episode I bet in 30-35 years, since I was a kid, but can still remember how hysterically funny it was. You're a GEM, Ms. Carrollbest wishes from a fan in Florida!!!

I was so glad to see your post here. I noticed that today was your mother's birthday and was hoping that there was somewhere to send Greetings!
My husband and I (both 50 somethings) have been crazy about Pat Carroll since we were kids. I can't think of a performance that we didn't LOVE and we especially looked forward to her appearances on game shows, because she was just so darn quick witted. For myself, I would like her to know that she was a particular favorite, because I was also an unapologetic "smart girl" and she (and Peggy Cass) gave me hope.
I can't imagine why anyone would celebrate "Cinco de Mayo" when you could celebrate "Pat Carroll Day".
Happy Birthday Pat!
