No threads for this guy! Amazing! This is yet another signature of a twisted, upside-down world gone wrong. You people make me sick.

Yes, but honestly: Almost everyone's seen The Blues Brothers, and thus probably know who he is by now! I rented this collection of old Betty Boop cartoons just to watch his dancing (well, they rotoscoped a ghostly walrus/ghostly creature/old man of the mountain over his dancing, but you can tell it's him).

I've never seen The Blues Brothers and I know who he is. I came across his name a couple of years ago and decided to look him up at Amazon and listened to a few sample clips and loved it! I've really started getting into the old blues and jazz of the '20's and '30's and this man was amazing.
I recently got a hold of a four CD set, "The Early Years: 1930-1934". It's quite an amazing set. 😃
My favorite Calloway song is The Levee Low Down.
          He was just simply amazing.

I'll have to buy some of his albums.
            Which would you recommend?

It really sucks that this guy isn't more recognised. But I'm working on it"The Jumpin' Jive" is my favourite of his songs and I intend to play it until everyone in my class knows itAnd Cab. He was so cool!

I too am terribly shocked that there aren't more threads here talking about a truly great and legendary performer like Cab Calloway! I first heard "Minnie the Moocher" when I was a kid of about 8 or 9 (which, funnily enough, was around the time that Cab passed away), but it's only over the past few months that I've really taken an interest in his whole body of work and listened to some of his other songs- what an amazing talent! You just don't get music of that caliber anymore- it must have been thrilling to see him perform live back in the day! I just heard Cab's version of "Saint Louis Blues" about 15 minutes ago and it is AMAZING! I like just about all of his songs, but "Saint Louis Blues" is a particularly magnificent performance by Cab!
Anyone who likes great old-time music should download or buy Cab's music. The man was always and remains now a true original and a legend in American music. May he rest in peace, and may his music continue to entertain us.
