In "Without A Trace" we see him in a wheelchair. Is that just for the character?

I am also curious as to the wheelchair. There is no news as of what, if anything, has happened to him. I know that in the entertainment business there is a movement for use of people with disabilities. It would be unfair to use an actor in a wheelchair whereas there may be plenty of handicapped actors looking for a break.

Tim broke his leg in July 2004. So when they filmed the episode he was still recovering. It was easier for him to be in a wheelchair than to be on crutches. Since the leg has healed, with a slight limp, the wheelchair stuck.

Thank you very much for this tidbit about the wheelchair. I too assumed they would use a disabled actor if there was any stated reason for his character to be in a wheelchair.
Then I was afraid Busfield himself might be suffering from some debilitating illness, which would be a shame, but would provide a nice bit of diversity in the show.
Glad to know the truth about it. Thanks again.

He was producer and director of WAT while he was acting on the show.
