    I just heard a segment on NPRs This American Life about Brill and McCall's appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show. It is very interesting hearing this story from them in person. All This American Life shows are available to download for free on their website, http://www.thislife.org/. The episode is title My Big Break.

      I just heard it as well I suppose it was a replay. It looks like the TAL story was adapted or inspired by this Washington Post article:

        It's a great story, one of the better ones on TAL. Brill and McCall have a really good attitude about it all now.
        Also interesting is that Davy Jones of the then-future Monkees was also on the show that night.
