Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Bill Bixby

Do you think Bill really believed Elvis was still alive ?
I remember Bill appeared on the Fox Special in the 90's.
    Bill didn't say much,
Other people on the show claimed that Elvis faked his death and
that Elvis was coming back as a spiritual leader.
Bill seemed very inteligent. I wonder if he believed all of that ?

At the end of the special, he remarked that he himself believed Elvis was dead. So no mystery there.

I'm glad to hear that Bill Bixby said that.
I wonder why he came on that cheesy special ?

I was also very surprised by Bill Bixby doing that show.
I had always believed that Elis was dead, but when Bill did that show, I had to wonder for a minute! Someone with such a good reputation as him actually giving some credibility to the notion.

I've always been of the opinion that he had to have been desperate for work at the time. And "desperate" could mean "felt the need to be working in some capacity" as much as anything.

It seemed a little out of character to me at first that he would take part in something like that. Then I noticed that this special aired in 1992. That was when he was making those Hulk TV movies. I think he did that special to get his face out there as a way of promoting the movie. Sometimes when actors have projects coming up that they want people to watch they'll do something else before hand. Bill Bixby didn't like to do interviews etc.. So maybe this was his way to promote this project without having to do interviews or celebrity "tabloid" style TV shows.

I totally agree with what you are saying. It makes sense he was trying to get his face out there to promote the hulk films. I remember he did not have much to say and did not look like he wanted to be there.
