In reflection, Do you honestly believe as I do that if there was a TV miniseries of "The Day the Earth Stood Still" was remade, do you feel that Bill would deliver an outstanding performance as "Klaatu"? Discuss. -

Sadly, I must confess I am not familiar with TDTESS. However, I agree 100% with IamGORT's statements:
I can't imagine the public rejecting Bill Bixby in any role.
As Klaatu, Bill Bixby would have brought sensibility, depth and his own brand of warmth and compassion that were very unique to him and yet have to see duplicated by anyone anywhere.
Of course, I'll admit to being predudiced but I've never seen anyone else exhibit his unique combination of qualities either. -

Thank you for that glowing response!!! Damn, did I strike a nerve or what? LOL!! To further add to this statement, I felt this TV movie/miniseries/series would have been made in the mid 80s(around "84"),after the "Hulk" TV series. This would have injected new life into his career as well as his personal life.(The guy experienced personal tragedy of divorce, death of his young son and suicide of h2000is ex-wife.) He could've bring his directorial skills to the mix and produce the series as well. He could have went head-to-head with another TV icon and friend, Michael Landon's "Highway to Heaven". What do you think? -

to IamGort and Bixbyfan and others:
This has been on my mind about another "what if" role. Bill would have been a helluva standby for Roddy McDowell in one his famous role("Caesar" in the "Conquest/Battle for the Planet of the Apes". They both have similar features, carriage and presence. What do you think? -

I agree with you Bixbyfan..I'm just now watching the Hulk episodes for the first time since I was a kid. I'm now 35 years old and I'm just so sad that he's gone. Bill Bixby has such incredible talent as an actor that his role as The Hulk was just incredible. The Hulk would have never been as good without Lou and Bill. I'm not familiar with any of Bill's other roles but I plan to start and watch for the next few years..I'm so emotional that I can't even speak about how great Bill did in the Hulk. RIP Bill..we are indeed lonely without you. More from me later

I was very saddened when he passed.I was and still am a fan of the series Because of Bixby's performance. Most actors, being essentially a superhero show in the 70's,would have played the character a bit more cheesily.Bixby kept the character very human and very sympathetic.Ed Norton and Eric Bana are good actors but i'll take Bixby's Banner over them any time.

I've just come across Bill Bixby's IMDB record through that for another person. It just does not seem like it's almost 17 years now since Bill died. I would have guessed 10 years, if that. He was a good actor.
I miss him, he seem like a loving guy ever, xxx
