Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Claude Akins

    katafan1 — 18 years ago(August 04, 2007 05:40 PM)

I was wondering if anyone knows if it is Claude Akins that does the narration on the Tombstone movie made in 1993 (with Val Kilmer and Kurt Russell)? It came on today, and that voice sounds just like Claude's. He is not credited here on imdb, but that's not always 100% accurate. Thanks for any help!

Hey Katafan1 - wasn't Claude Akins who narrated Tombstone - it was Robert Mitchum. Claude Akins had a great voice though. Whenever I think of the first Night Stalker movie, the first thing that comes to my mind is Claude Akins as the Sherrif yelling at Kolchak. "Now, listen, Kolchek . . ." deliberately mispronouncing the name. A great actorly touch.

It would be easy to mistake Claude Akins for Robert Mitchum. As I now recall their voices sounded VERY similar and Claude would have nade a great narrator for Tombstone and a great spokesman for "BEEF", it's what's for dinner.
