Ok, let me first off start by saying I adored High Tension. It's one of my favorite horror films of the last 10-15 years. I absolutely despise remakes, but I gave him a pass on The Hills Have Eyes because he wanted to make a name here in America. But two more in a row!?!?!? The biggest problem with modern day horror is remakes. So I can say without a doubt that Alexandre Aja is in fact part of the problem!!!!

Actually, he's doing mirrors in between them. And remakes are great. Even if they are bad, it's great to see a new take. And, if they end up being bad, you don't have to watch them ever again. Plus, they could open up a new, younger generation to horror, who may discover the originals, find the sparkle most remakes missed, and start their long journey into the dark underbelly of the complex genre we call horror!

In recent interviews Aja has stated that Piranha is not going to be a remake, but a fresh take on killer fish. There will no references to the original film.
Hope this clears things up. It's a remake in name only. Dude is gonna do his own thing and not remake Dante's film. -

Piranha is not a remake of the 70's film , the story is not the same at all in fact the script for it was not even called Piranha , it just the producers who changed it to piranha to make more money from it
I love the Joe Dante film and I like the Piranha 2010 but they are both very different. -

I honestly think hating someone only because he does remakes is stupid.
My reason for hating Aja has nothing to do with the fact that half of his movies are remakes.
I hate him because he's an overrated a**hole and his movie sucks.
