How do you go from 'Hills Have Eyes' to 'Piranha 3D'?

Hills Have Eyes was directed beautifully. Especially for a horror movie. I haven't seen Piranha 3D but from what I've heard it's just a 'Snakes on a Plane' esque movie with more tits and blood.

I am a fan of horror period. I love everything from exploitation/shlock to an eerie ghost story to gore (obviously). Tonight I watched Piranha 3D and it was everything I wanted it to be..16d0. campy, extremely gory, exploitative, thrilling, and fun.
I doubt you should be commenting on films you haven't seen yet. -

I agree 100%. I just got back from it tonight and found it thoroughly entertaining. With something like Pirahna, you simply can't take it too seriously or it isn't going to work. There was just the right blend of cheesy performances, over the top gore, ridiculous plotting and budding tension to make it an incredibly entertaining, escapist fun. Everybody from the actors to the crw just seemed to be having fun with it and that is what made it work so well.
And 3D nudity + incredibly graphic 3D gore + hilarious cameos = the brilliance that is Pirahna 3D.
I find the problem with some of the horror films we are getting today is that they are WAY too bloated and serious than they need to be. I'm all for genuine tension and thrills but the market has become diluted with absurd horror films that are trying to be artistic rather than working at actually, genuinely entertaining the audience. Pirahna is a step in the right direction!
P.S. I'm well aware that movies like The Hills Have Eyes wouldn't work if it was too comedic. But come on, just look at Hostel. That movie was incredibly disturbing and atmospheric and by a certain point in the grotesque and outlandish nature of its final 30 mins it just became absurdly comedic. Was a brilliant way of dealing with the visuals viewers witnessed while still maintaining intensity.
