Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Scott Adkins

Loved this guy from the 1st second in Undisputed 2.
But everything after that was just a copy of everything else he has ever done. The same character, with the same enemies, with the same fights.
Too bad. If he was a better actor, he could work in more genres, be more diverse and make action movies every now and than. He's lucky that he has a solid fanbase, so he can keep making movies. But so can Steven Seagal.

Definitely disagree that he's maxed out his climb, people said the same about Statham and he made his name off being an action star who cant really act well. And he didnt start till his mid thirties(Statham is like 50 now) If you can do your own stunts, do a a badass 1000 yard stare, and keep auditioning eventually y5b4ou will get a big break. Scott is just waiting for that break. Hopefully they make him DeathStroke or some other major character in a superhero movie, thats really all he needs. I thought he would have been a good Iron Fist, but they went a little younger.

Zero Tolerance,Special Forces,Ninja,El Gringo,Elinmantors,The Shepard,Close Range,Expendables 2 and Hard Target none of his characters are anything like Boyka in Undisputed 2
IMO he is one of the few action/martial artist actors that can act,he occasionally gets some character work in theatrical films and I hear he has done some UK Drama shows.
Ask the guards, they'll deny it. Ask the inmates herethey'll cut their tongues out before they talk

I like Scott a lot but he lacks the charisma of some of the old school action stars and acting wise he just gets by. Boyka is the only character he has played that is truly memorable. As a martial artist though he is fantastic and will find work as 'henchman no1' for a long time to come in Hollywood.

Jason Statham has done some quality acting roles too, Redemption, The Bank Job, London and his work with Guy Ritchie have all proved he is more capable than most action stars in the acting department.
