Mike Tyson has admitted he was injured during his fight with Jake Paul in Texas - but has insisted he won't be using it as an excuse.
The heavyweight icon was taking part in his first professional fight since his defeat to Kevin McBride back in 2005.
But Tyson was unable to really trouble Paul, with the 27-year-old dominating proceedings as he secured victory via unanimous decision.
Speaking after his defeat, the 58-year-old was asked about the brace over his knee. Tyson confirmed that he was injured, with the boxing star telling Netflix: "Yeah [
I had a knee injury], but I can't use that for an excuse."
Defeat has never been something the veteran likes to experience. He also insists, however, that he's 'happy' with how he did.
"I am happy," he continued. "I knew he was a good fighter. I knew he was prepared. I didn't prove nothing to anybody, only to myself. I am just happy with what I can do."
While Paul is likely to secure more lucrative fights in the future, it's unclear what Tyson will do.
When quizzed on retirement, Iron Mike kept his cards close to his chest. He did, however, suggest that he'd be open to fighting Paul's brother, Logan, at some point in the future.
"I don't know, it depends on the situation. I don't think so, maybe his brother [Logan]," he added.
As for Paul, the 27-year-old was delighted with his win.
He admitted he was 'scared' that Tyson would be able to hurt him, despite his older opponent looking a shadow of the man that dominated the sport in the 1980s and 1990s.
And Paul also paid tribute his rival: "Mike Tyson, it's such an honour. Let's give it up for Mike, the greatest to ever do it," he said. "We wouldn't be here without him today with him, this man is an icon. It's just an honour to be able to fight him. It was really tough fight. I expected it to be. He was exactly what I thought. One of the greatest to ever do it. An icon. I was trying to hurt him a little bit. I was scared he was going to hurt me. I did my best."
Paul was also asked about his future plans. He says Canelo Alvarez needs a fight with him more than the other way round - though also insisted he wouldn't be calling anyone out.

I hate boxing and will never understand how or why they allowed this convicted rapist who also bit off chunks of an ear of another boxer and is too old to fight back in the ring.

Paul was respectfully pulling his punches towards the end and Tyson never should have agreed to fight someone half his age - not in this sport. He was Iron Mike, but this was painful to watch.
To be fair, Paul was looking pretty miserable towards the end of the 8th round for his young age, so despite Tyson looking beat to hell, Paul was under-conditioned (which was for the best). He's more of a performance "fighter" anyway.
Once I saw Tyson chewing his glove, I knew he was stressing out. As much as this morally and ethically never should have taken place, they both walked away much richer.
