ARCHIE BUNKER IS ARGUABLY ONE OF THE MOST BELOVED MEN IN COMEDY SITCOM HISTORY. WHETHER YOU LOVED HIM FOR BEING FUNNY OR HATED HIM FOR MAKING RACIAL REFERENCES, THIS MAN WAS TRULY ONE OF A KIND. THOUGHTS ANYONE?

I 100% agree with you. But he was even more an icon outside 5b4of acting. Read his autobiography it's my favorite book. it's real and tender from Carroll, I was amazed at reading this. He is so smart, remarkable and strong, "A Memoir for all my Families" is sad, funny, and uplifting. He led a life only few of us dream of, his stay in Italy, His stay in family familiars like Ireland and his WW 2 efforts. Plus his ever so melancholy diary of the downfall of his son Hugh until his deathwhich is so extremely Sad.

You know, when you get to watching AITF enough, you start to wish Archie was your father too.
Even though he says such ridiculous things, it's impossible to hate the man. If Mike couldn't hate him deep down, I don't think anyone else can either.
