This past weekend (July 18th) I was given a free set of Producers tickets to the Benedum Theatre in Pittsburgh by the Civic Light Opera. I took my best friend from Yor7eck, PA (I loved to show off Western PA whenever I can!) and I didn't realize (though she claims to have noted this earlier) that Joey was in the show until I opened the program! I was SO excited - he played the part of Franz (the same role that Will Ferrel had in the movie version) and was seriously SO GOOD. I have no idea why he was asked to be a part of a Pitt cast - but I'm so glad that he chose to spend part of his summer here instead of at home in Orlando (perhaps to escape the heat?).
He did a GREAT job with the German accent and his singing was just perfect. At one point Bialystock told him to stop trying to shoot up him and Bloom and instead go kill the actors. "Why do you go out and buy more bullets, why don't you BYE, BYE, BYE more bullets?" And he put his hand out and did the motion from the videoit was so cute.
I'm really pleased that he was involved and that I got to see him. I was such a fan when I was young.

You sure are lucky you got to see Joey at his final night of doing the "The Producers"! I wish I could've seen the show, but I'm no where near Pittsburgh. I hear the play was a smashing success!
LOL I heard there was an Nsync reference, but I didn't know where it was in the play. =D
I'm glad you were pleasantly surprised by Joey's appearance. ;D
