I've heard that her wild mood-swings and the substance problems you mentioned lead to her being kicked out of "Ally McBeal" straight after season 2 I think.. She had some weight problem after that I know, but what she's doing now is an open question

I doubt that she was "pulled over" for driving under the influence. Anyone who knows Lisa knows that she never obtained a driver's license due to her fear of driving. She made several references to her friends having to drive her everywhere because of it.

Lisa's ordeal sorta reminds me of Yasmine Bleeth'sI heard that some producers
were planning to cast her in a couple flicks, only to back off when news of
her coke bust leaked. Let's hope Lisa can pull herself out of this & become a
better person, not to mention a better actress! -

Robert Downey Jr. had far more of a career (box office) than she ever did and is far more talented than she ever will be. Even with all that things aren't exactly a cakewalk for Mr.Downey Jr. It's hard for producers to insure him as well but since he's well liked in the industry people do at least try.

Has anybody thought that maybe she just doesnt want to act anymore?!
If she is schizophrenic and/ or has a drug problem perhaps she is more concerned about making herself better than appearing in TV shows?? -

"How does this explain Robert Downey, Jr's full work slate? Gender and race double standards?"
Probably more like work ethic. As I understand it, Mr. Downey does not let his pastime interfere with his work, and he has been praised as being extremely professional (gets to work on time, knows his lines, isn't a problem on the set, doesn't make big demands, etc.). This is why he can work with his 'problem'(actors in Hollywood drink all the time in their off hours, and as long as they don't let it affect their work it's okMr. Downey shows this philosophy can be extended to other pastimes as well, and should be handled case-by-case

Great point. If anyone should be uninsurable, it's him.

The situation with Robert Downey, Jr. is completely different than what Lisa is enduring.
Mr. Downey has a history of alcohol and drug abuse and has struggled valiantly with his addiction and recovery.
However, Lisa suffers from a very different disease - a mental health disorder that she can neither control NOR improve without a miraculous balance of medications and treatments all aimed at a constantly moving target. In fact, if there is any improvement and a balance is even achieved at all, it is often fleeting and pretty much impossible to recapture. Schizophrenia is a dread disease. Lisa, unlike Robert Downey, Jr., cannot know or predict when her treatment program might work or when it may miss the mark and either under- or over-medicate her making work of any kind impossible.
You cannot compare one with the other.- a friend of Lisa's
